Abraham Lincoln said “Public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, nothing can fail; without it nothing can succeed.”

In that spirit, Research!America has been commissioning public opinion polls with leading firms since 1992 to help understand public support for medical, health, and scientific research, among other state, national, and global issues related to public health and research and innovation. Data collected from 2013 to the present is available in the survey question database below. If you are interested in accessing earlier data, contact Erin Brown.

Each year, Research!America publishes America Speaks, a summary of our most recent poll data. We highlight trends and feature quotes from decision-makers. Use America Speaks as a resource when contacting your elected officials, writing letters to the editor, op-eds or articles, giving speeches, and advocating for research to improve health.

Research!America regularly partners with our members to take the public pulse on important issues, including state-based surveys, to help inform advocacy and action. If you have questions about our survey data, contact Erin Brown. If you’re interested in partnering on a survey, contact Anne Mandeville.
