Support Research!America
Research!America is hard at work to ensure our nation assigns a top priority to advancing life-saving science. The impact of medical and public health progress has never been more apparent or the need for that progress more urgent. Your contribution adds impact to our efforts to make research to improve health a higher national priority.
Understanding Planned Gifts and their Benefits
Depending on your personal and estate planning goals, there are different approaches to consider. Please find a sampling of ways to give below.
Estate Gifts
BEQUEST – A bequest is the simplest type of planned gift made through your will or trust. A bequest allows you to retain control of your assets during your lifetime, while providing you with the satisfaction of knowing your designated assets will be directed to Research!America.
EXAMPLES – Retirement accounts (IRA distributions, 401(k), or other retirement funds), life insurance policies, gifts of stock, donor advised funds, privately-held business interests, family foundation, and trusts.
SAMPLE BEQUEST LANGUAGE – “I give and bequeath _________________ [dollar amount, percentage of my estate, and/or a percentage of my residuary estate, etc.] to Research!America (# 52-1609875), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with headquarters in Arlington, VA 22202.
Charitable Gifts
CHARITABLE LEAD TRUSTS – Under a Charitable Lead Trust, a donor transfers property to a trust before or upon death and Research!America receives a specified payment for the term of the trust. When the trust terminates, the assets revert to the donor or pass to the donor’s heirs.
CHARITABLE REMAINDER TRUSTS – The donor transfers cash or property to fund a trust that makes fixed or variable payments for your lifetime, or a number of years, and then passes what remains to Research!America.
CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITIES – In exchange for an outright gift, the donor receives a fixed income while providing critical support to Research!America.
