Research!America Announces New Board Members

Arlington, VA – The members of Research!America, a nonprofit alliance that advocates for science, discovery, and innovation to achieve better health for all, today elected three new members to its Board of Directors.

These three individuals are leaders in their respective fields and have made significant contributions to advancing medical and health research through science, advocacy, and policy. Together with our current members, the Board represents the broad scope of our alliance which includes academia, professional societies, patient organizations, philanthropy, and industry.

The newly elected board members, who will each serve a three-year term, are:

  • Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo, MD, PhD; Editor in Chief, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and the JAMA Network and Lee Goldman MD Endowed Professor of Medicine and Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, University of California, San Francisco. 
  • Garth Graham, MD, MPH; Director and Global Head of Healthcare and Public Health, Google/YouTube. 
  • Sarah Szanton, PhD, RN; Dean and Patricia M. Davison Professor for Health Equity and Social Justice, Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. 

“These highly accomplished professionals bring a wealth of knowledge and new perspectives to our board,” said Board Chair Sudip Parikh, PhD. “Their expertise and their passion for research will enhance our ability to achieve our goals and advance our mission.”
