Through our initiatives, Research!America brings decision makers and advocates for medical and health research together to work on serving the public interest.

Economic impact of health research
Each year, the U.S. spends more than $100 billion on health research. This investment improves healthcare, saves lives and yields economic returns.

U.S. Investment in Health Research
Research!America tracks how much the public and private sectors in the U.S. spend on health research in annual estimates. In 2006, we estimate the U.S. spent $116 billion research to improve health. This amount is less than 6% of the $2.1 trillion spent on health in the United States.

Your Candidates-Your Health
In 2006, Research!America and the Albert and Mary Lasker Foundation established Your Candidates-Your Health to educate voters on their candidates' views on health and research. With the 2008 election in full-swing, we recently launched Your Candidates-Your Health 2008.

Your Congress-Your Health
Only 11% of Americans say they are well-informed about their elected officials' positions on research. To improve this number, Research!America, the Albert and Mary Lasker Foundation and our partners invited all members of Congress to complete a questionnaire about where they stand on medical, health and scientific research and other issues that affect our health.

Paul G. Rogers Society for Global Health Research
The Society, named for The Honorable Paul G. Rogers, former Florida Congressman and renowned champion for research to improve health, aims to increase awareness of-and to make the case for greater U.S. investment in-research to fight diseases that disproportionately affect the world's poorest nations.

Bridging the Sciences
Research!America's Bridging the Sciences initiative includes public opinion polling, one-page reports and a forum.

Public Health Thank You Day
Each Monday before Thanksgiving, Research!America and leading public health organizations take time to recognize public health professionals who work tirelessly every day to protect us. From the ordinary to the extraordinary, these heroes keep our drinking water safe, air clean and children healthy.
