The NIH Genome-Wide Association Studies Policy: Responsibilities of Investigators and IRBs
Join Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R) for an interactive learning experience focusing on the policies surrounding new tools and technologies in genetic research. The 90-minute webinar, The NIH Genome-Wide Association Studies Policy: Responsibilities of Investigators and IRBs, will feature two expert presenters, Dr. P. Pearl O'Rourke, director, Human Research Affairs, Partners Healthcare, and Dr. Laura Lyman Rodriguez, senior adviser to the Director for Research Policy at the National Human Genome Research Institute at the NIH. They will clearly and completely guide participants through the 2007 NIH GWAS Policy and explain how investigators and IRBs can most effectively apply this policy to their work. Dr. Rodriguez will review, among other things, who and what the policy covers, and what adhering to the policy entails. Dr. O'Rourke will illustrate some of the challenges presented when implementing the NIH GWAS policy.
Webinars—short for "web-based seminars"—are presentations, lectures, workshops or seminars transmitted over the web. A key feature of a webinar is that it allows for interaction between the presenters and audience members. Participants are able to ask questions and get answers from the presenters via their keyboards or telephones without leaving the comfort of their desks.
The individual registration rate is $150, and special rates are available for groups of varying sizes. Discounted rates are available for PRIM&R members.
